Abbot’s Hall Weddings is a licensed Wedding Venue, with a variety of locations within historic and unique buildings and outside settings for open air ceremonies and celebrations. Our offer is set within a beautiful 84-acre site.
Abbots Hall Barn – Capacity 180 for ceremony

Our stunning 14th-century barn is ideal for larger wedding parties.
The Medieval Barn is the oldest building on site. The stunning timber structured building is Grade 2* listed, with a large open space and original features. It provides the perfect atmosphere for a ceremony or party that is quintessentially Suffolk and is a much-loved, one-of-a-kind building.
Abbot’s Hall Lawn and Marquee – Outside Ceremony – Capacity 200

For large wedding parties, the back lawn of Abbot’s Hall provides a generous green space adjacent to our wonderful marquee and a perfect venue for your daytime reception. This large, open space is all yours for your guests to enjoy after your ceremony. The marquee has a generous catering space on the side for caterers to use.
With all outside ceremonies there is a need for a ‘wet plan’ for the ceremony and we can provide our large and beautiful Medieval Barn for this if the weather prevents an outside wedding.
Victorian Stable Block – Capacity 80 (outside ceremony)

Providing the perfect historic backdrop for an outdoor wedding, the Victorian stables with its ornamental brickwork and framing archways provides a quiet and intimate setting for your ceremony. Situated next to our beautiful Walled Garden, it’s perfect for a flower-filled ceremony.
Victorian Conservatory and Walled Garden – Capacity 29

Ideal for intimate, relaxed ceremonies, the Victorian Conservatory of Abbot’s Hall overlooks a beautiful Walled Garden which is lovingly cared for and beautifully planted all year round.
Abbot’s Hall Dining Room – Capacity 27

The intimate dining room of the 18th-century Abbot’s Hall looks out on the picturesque landscaped back lawn and walled garden.
Gt. Moulton Chapel – Unlicensed, independent celebrant only – Capacity 60

Known as a ‘tin tabernacle’, the chapel still retains its original baptismal pool and Sunday School room from when it was an active chapel.
Situated near to our beautiful watermill and millpond with an orchard nearby, this is a special place to celebrate and get the most wonderful photos to capture your day.
Due to its religious past, legal ceremonies cannot take place in this building. It can host independent celebrant only ceremonies and legal ceremonies will still need to be arranged with the local registry office.
Settling House – Outside Ceremony

Originally a focal point of the cattle market in Bury St. Edmunds, this iconic building was saved for generations when it was moved and rebuilt at the Museum, after the market was developed into a shopping centre.
The unusual name stands out and so too does its distinctive octagonal shape. Now the former counting house, Suffolk, painted a distinctive white, this 1864 timber building is sited on our top field with far reaching views across the Suffolk landscape and the museum’s 84-acre site. This is positioned on our top field on site and gives lovely views over the Suffolk landscape beyond.
Fishing Lodge – Outside Ceremony – Capacity 6

Small and inmate or thinking of eloping? Or the perfect place to propose?
In 2025, we have opened special and limited access to the island and the Grade II listed 18th century Fishing Lodge for the first time. This is for small and intimate outdoor ceremonies – max 6 to include couple, 2x registrars and two witnesses.
All of our fees include the use of our seating and the opportunity to have your photographs taken anywhere on site.
We have options available for all budgets, please contact Marie Taylor, our Events Manager at marie@foodmuseum.org.uk
